The Relationship Between Artist and Model
With all the drawing software out there, why do animation studios, video game developers, and comics illustrators still use live-action models for character design and development? Panelists will discuss how art models contribute to and enhance an artist's vision, how to find the right one for a project, ways into the business, and how to make nontraditional body types, age, and disability work as assets. Panelists include art models Jennifer Fabos Patton (Gallery Girls founder), Margaret Baker (Spider-Man), Michael Q. Schmidt (Harry Potter), mo-cap model TJ Storm (Deadpool), and Disney master teacher Mark McDonnell. Moderated by Fast Company's Susan Karlin.

Cosplay Makeup 101
This panel goes into what it takes to perfect your cosplay by having great makeup to go with it. Panelists will cover beauty makeup, appliance application, special FX makeup, sculpting, molding, casting, and wig styling. The panel includes Dawn Banks (plus size model, Batgirl: Spoiled lead makeup designer), Ashley Troub (Nerdist, winning look SDCC Her Universe Fashion Show 2015 and 2016), Keaghlan Ashley (Face Off season 7, Face Off All-Stars, Severus Snape and the Marauders key makeup artist), and Chrissy Lynn (Bat in The Sun's Super Power Beat Down, Truly Outrageous: A Jem and the Holograms Fan Film). They will help you answer your questions about makeup to match your costuming and cosplay. They will also offer tips and tools of the trade to use. Having makeup that matches the effort put into your cosplay is important. Moderated by cosplayer Mac Beauvais (model in Monstrous Make-Up Manual books 1 and 2, actress in The Gloaming).

Hip-hop and comics are two American artforms that bring together disparate elements to create vast worlds of creativity. They share much common ground-rappers and graffiti artists utilize superheroic imagery and adopt larger-than-life alter egos; MCs and producers assemble universes with words and sound; comic creators draw on hip-hop's rich visual vocabulary and incorporate music, dance, and fashion into the fabric of their stories. Here, Patrick A. Reed (Depth of Field, ComicsAlliance) brings together an all-star group of graphic artists and musical innovators to discuss the ties between these two creative cultures.

The Her Universe Fashion Show: Junior Design Session
Calling all aspiring fashion designers! Are you too young to compete in The Her Universe Fashion Show? Do you want to design your own pieces or maybe even work for a fashion company like Her Universe someday? If you are between the ages of 6 and 17, come and design with the Her Universe Team and Her Universe Founder Ashley Eckstein. This session is free with a WonderCon Anaheim badge and no experience is needed. Just come with your imagination and get ready to sketch out your designs!

Props Through 3D Printing
With 3D printing machines popping up everywhere for cheap, more cosplayers are diving into building their own props and costumes with the use of 3D printed parts. In this panel you will get to see a world of 3D printers and what each of them is good for and ways that even novices can model and 3D print their own parts. Dress in costume! A mini costume contest will be held for a chance to win a full scan in costume to be 3D printed! See 3D printers on display and printing, and learn what it takes to print and finish your 3D prop.

Make Up FX for Cosplayers on a Budget
Makeup effects artist Jeff Barkley (Frost: Portrait of a Vampire, Monster Manor) will discuss and demonstrate FX makeup using items easily obtained from home and the grocery store. No need to spend a fortune on specialty materials. Jeff will be answering questions, along with cosplayers Trey Barkley (Sparrows Flight Cosplay, Joker) and DesiRee Preston (Enasi Volz, Harley), about makeup effects in conjunction with cosplay and film.

The 2017 WonderCon Anaheim Masquerade
This big onstage costume competition features amazing, beautiful, and imaginative re-created and original costumes crafted by talented attendees. Contestants compete for trophies, cash, and merchandise awards as bestowed by a panel of guest judges and representatives from various companies and organizations. The MCs are Phil Foglio and Kaja Foglio. Entertainment during judging intermission is provided by the Saber Guild performance group. Doors open for seating at 8:00 but the line for choice seating starts earlier!
